Why Do Humans Have Inherent Value?

This claim is often made, but rarely is a reason given.

The idea that humans have inherent value, independent of anything they DO (i.e. how they function, perform, or produce), is one that is commonly touted.

Yet if you ask WHY this is the case, not many people can give you an answer.

I saw a social media thread a while back where someone asked this - and every single answer was something like “we just do!” Or “Value is inherent!”

Father Mike Schmitz, in his podcast, was one of many people to really open my eyes to where this idea comes from.
